What are safety cameras?

Safety cameras include mobile and fixed speed cameras and are used to detect the speed vehicles are travelling at. Red light traffic cameras are used to detect if vehicles "jump" or go through traffic lights when they are still on red.

At the current time Safer Roads Humber has 4 fixed camera sites, 76 mobile sites, three routes and combined speed and red traffic light sites at Linsdey Oil Refinery, Immigham.

Safer Roads Humber has identified 85 core locations throughout the region that are collision hot spots. These core sites have a history of crashes where people have been injured and have a problem with speeding traffic.

A list of safety camera locations are agreed each year with all the Safer Roads Humber partners. Speed enforcement will take place on a regular basis at all these sites throughout the region.
